Q+A with Shelley:
1. What is the one piece of advice you have for young women beginning their career in the real estate industry as well as mid-level professionals trying to reach the next level?
Be authentic. If you aren’t true to yourself others won’t be to you.
2. What skills do you think are most valuable to professionals in your role?
Challenge yourselves every day and be adaptable to new approaches and circumstances. Everything is changing so quickly in this modern world that it has to be the way to survive, as well as being fun!
3. What do you enjoy most about your work?
The people. Everyone you meet is so different and interesting. It is a great industry for colleagues, clients and contacts that keep you on your toes all the time.
4. How did you get into real estate/your current field?
By accident. I started training to be an accountant with one of the big 4 and saw the error of my ways. Found myself in real estate and didn’t even know it was an industry or career. I loved it from day 1.
Shelley's fun facts:
Favourite pastime: Walking. In the country or by the river or wherever. I love to walk as it is great but not too strenuous exercise and you get a chance to think and clear your mind plus really look at things
Favourite restaurant: I love a restaurant with a view. So would have to be, Pebble Beach, Barton on Sea. It has not only great seafood but an amazing view of the Needles across to the Isle of Wight. Fabulous.
What’s your favourite way to spend a Sunday: I have a gorgeous 4 year old daughter called Molly who I love to hang out with or go see things with. This is my idea of heaven on a Sunday as I don’t see her much in the week and the world through her eyes is such a different place.
What would your personal motto be: Be the best you can be every day
